Trojan Men pick up first hardwood win of season

HANNIBAL — The HLGU Men’s Basketball team hosted Central Christian College of the Bible this evening in their home opener. The Trojans dominated both ends of the floor, coming out on top 100-54.

 

West Hancock grad Logan Dorethy led the Trojans. The junior transfer from MacMurray College posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Mark Twain grad Grant Peters added 12 points while 2020 Monroe City grad Bryce Stark dished out nine assists in the win.

Logan Dorethy (JR/Hamilton, IL) recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Dorethy went 7-10 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line.

 

Roger Guardiola (JR/Girona, Spain) added 17 for the Trojans with five three-pointers. Guardiola also dished out eight assists.

 

Three other Trojans scored in double digits: Wyatt Ward (JR/Hartville, MO) (14), Grant Peters (JR/New London, MO) (12), Jacob Day (FR/Brookfield, MO) (12)

 

Bryce Stark (FR/Monroe City, MO) recorded nine assists and three blocks.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

 

The Trojans wasted no time lighting up the offensive end, with back-to-back threes from Roger Guardiola within the first couple of minutes of play.

 

HLGU’s largest lead in the first half was 26. At halftime, the Trojans led 51-28.

 

Midway through the second half HLGU went on a 15-0 run to put the Trojans up by 36.

 

HLGU shot a whopping 56.7% from the field, going 53.3% from behind the arc.

 

CCCB put up more shots from the free-throw line (11-17) but HLGU converted a higher percentage of their trips to the line going 80% (8-10)

 

HLGU as a team recorded 32 assists compared to 12 from CCCB

Next up, the Trojans will host Bellevue University this Saturday, November 21 at 3:00 PM.
