From C-SC Athletics Department
The decision comes after contact tracing and quarantine procedures were enacted within the Wildcat football team, allowing for players on the team to complete a 14-day quarantine. Quarantine results when individuals come in close contact to a positive COVID-19 case.
“This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our student-athletes,” stated Heart of America Athletic Conference Commissioner Lori Thomas. “The conference and teams are adhering to the outlined guidelines in the Heart Promise.”
Delaying the games will allow student-athletes to return to the field of play in the safest manner possible by allowing the appropriate time for practice and physical reconditioning. No makeup dates have been determined. The Wildcats’ next possible game is slated for Thursday, Oct. 15, against Grand View University in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
“This is an unfortunate situation,” said Culver-Stockton Athletic Director Pat Atwell. “We feel blessed every time we get to compete this fall and we look forward to resuming the football season as soon as safety protocols allow.”
